Common sticking points
- A common sticking point is forgetting the quantity: 3 notebooks at $2.40 cost 3 × $2.40, not $2.40.
- Another is treating a tax RATE like a dollar amount. 10% tax on $20.00 adds $2.00 — a slice of the price, not $10.
Try this together
Pretend you have $20 for a picnic. Write four fictional choices: fruit $5, drinks $4, sandwiches $8, treat $6. Can you choose three and stay under $20? Can you make a different plan that also works?
1–5 minutes, no materials to buy, nothing to hand in.
